Ringing College of Art and Design,
ELEMENTAL APHRODITE is a beautiful statement necklace that features a string of Dutch/Dogon Donut beads combined with African copper spacers. Dutch/Dogon beads were made in Holland between 1500-1800AD. They were made by winding molten glass on a hot mandrel until the desired size was achieved. They were then traded into Africa, specifically with the Dogon tribe in Mali. Because of this they are often called "Dogon glass" despite the fact they were produced elsewhere. This particular shape is known by traders as "Dogan donuts" due to their large holes and ring shape. Also dramatically accented with a large crystal focal bead upcycled from a chandelier, ELEMENTAL APHRODITE includes thoughtful details like faceted crystal beads, rhinestone spacers, oxidized copper chain, and dark patina jump rings. The ELEMENTAL APHRODITE necklace is a powerful talisman that gleams with gorgeous color and chic sophistication. It would make a stunning addition to ritual or ceremonial wear. Positively gorgeous!
